Sporting Kansas City added an experienced European international with an impressive resume on Thursday, signing 25-year-old Hungarian national team forward Krisztian Nemeth for the 2015 season.

Nemeth last played for Dutch Eredivisie club Roda JC Kerkrade, scoring eight goals and notching six assists in 25 games for the Dutch first-division club during the 2013-14 season. An experienced Hungarian international, Nemeth made his national team debut in 2010 and featured five times for Hungary during its 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.

"Krisztian is a player who has extensive experience playing in a 4-3-3 [system]," Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes said in a statement released by the club. "He also fits well in the overall model of play for Sporting Kansas City and we look forward to his adaptation."

Nemeth began his pro career in 2005, signing for Hungarian power MTK Budapest at the age of 15. He moved to English Premier League power Liverpool in the summer of 2007, but never featured for the first team, eventually getting sent on loan to Greek club AEK Athens for the 2009-10 season.

Nemeth spent just over two years in Greece, signing for Olympiacos ahead of the 2010-11 season after his loan to AEK ended. He didn’t feature much at Olympiacos, and was sent out on another loan, this time to Olympiacos Volos, in January 2011.

He officially terminated his contract with Olympiacos in September 2011, re-joining MTK Budapest for two months before moving to Eredivisie club RKC Waalwijk in January 2012. He spent six months at Waaljwijk before eventually joining Roda JC for the 2012-13 season.

Nemeth should provide a boost to a Sporting attack that just locked up its 2014 leading scorer, forward Dom Dwyer, to a multi-year contract extension on Tuesday.

Thursday’s move comes just two days after the club announced the signing of Haitian international and former Portland Timbers and FC Dallas midfielder James Marcelin
