New York Red Bulls reserve goalkeeper Santiago Castaño was apparently set to join the US Under-20 national team for their final camp of 2014 starting Monday in Honduras.

But Castaño has instead reported for duty with Colombia after he was called up for their U-20 team that kicked off camp the same day in Cali, a US Soccer official confirmed to MLSsoccer.com.

Castaño, who has spent two seasons with the Red Bulls after signing a Homegrown contract in December 2012, was among the 19 players called by head coach Tab Ramos to prepare for the 2015 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship in January. He has made four appearances for the U-20s in 2014, the most of any other ‘keeper in the player pool.

Castaño, a New Jersey native, been called into US camps at age levels ranging from U-14 to U-18 and spent time with the U-17 residency program in Bradenton, Fla., in 2010.

In an interview earlier this year with Colombia Gol, Castaño made clear his interest in playing for the country of his parents' birth: "That's one of my dreams [to play for Colombia]...Colombia is more than a country, it is an honor for me."
