American Exports: Four Yanks learn their Europa League fates

Tim Howard, Everton

AMSTERDAM – Four Americans stationed overseas learned their next Europa League assignments in Monday's draw, with Fabian Johnson and Borussia Mönchengladbach set for a round-of-32 showdown with defending champions Sevilla.

The Foals will open their two-leg clash on the road. The two clubs have never met in UEFA tournament play, but 'Gladbach have gone 3-3-2 in 11  continental meetings with La Liga sides.

Elsewhere in the draw, Tim Howard and Everton will each get their first taste of action against a Swiss opponent when they start the next round at Young Boys Bern. Howard finished the group phase with 29 saves in five starts and a shutout string of 227 minutes.

Sacha Kljestan and Anderlecht were drawn to begin the round-of-32 by hosting Russian outfit Dinamo Moscow. Though they've never played against Dinamo, the Mauves are 0-2-1 in three previous cup matches against their local rivals Lokomotiv and Spartak.

In addition, Brad Friedel and Tottenham are lined up for their first ever battle with Serie A side Fiorentina. The opener will be played at White Hart Lane.

All the ties will kick off on Feb. 19, with the returns set for the following Thursday.
