D.C. United have declined options on five players, including veteran defender Jeff Parke, who was a major part of United's offseason rebuild but suffered a season-ending injury in May.

The options on Nana Attakora, Alex Caskey, Kyle Porter and Homegrown Conor Shanosky were also declined, while United also extended a bona fide offer to midfielder/forward David Estrada, which allows the club to retain his MLS rights. Attakora, Caskey, Parke and Shanosky are all eligible for the Re-Entry Draft.

D.C. United can still negotiate new contracts with players who have had their options declined.

A 10-year veteran of MLS, Parke was acquired via trade with the Philadelphia Union on Jan. 14 and became an immediate fixture in United's lineup. The center back started the first 13 games for the Black-and-Red until sustaining an injury against Sporting Kansas City on May 31 that ultimately ended his season.

Acquired in August from the Seattle Sounders FC, Estrada appeared in nine games (three starts) and recorded two assists during the MLS season. A key component of United's CONCACAF Champions League success, he appeared in all four group stage matches and recorded two assists.

Attakora, who was picked by United in the 2013 Re-Entry Draft, didn’t feature in a regular-season game for United in 2014.

Caskey joined United on March 3, 2014, in a trade from Seattle Sounders FC and featured in 11 regular-season games (two starts).

Porter was acquired from the Vancouver Whitecaps FC in 2013. In two seasons with United he has appeared in 32 games (18 starts), recording three goals and one assist.

Shanosky, United's third Homegrown signing, joined the Black-and-Red in 2010 from the D.C. United Academy. In five seasons, the center back featured in five MLS regular season games in addition to being loaned to the NASL Fort Lauderdale Strikers in 2012 and USL PRO Richmond Kickers during portions of the past two seasons.
