HOUSTON – Owen Coyle has landed.
But according to the former Bolton and Burnley manager, who arrived in Houston on Friday to continue discussions with the Dynamo over their vacant head coaching position, there’s still some talking to do before a final decision is made.
“There's still some dialogue, talking to be done,” Coyle told the media upon his arrival. “Hopefully, fingers crossed, they feel I’m the right guy for the job.”
Reports surfaced late Thursday evening that the Scotland-born Coyle had emerged as the leading candidate for the position. Dynamo president Chris Canetti declined to speak specifically to MLSsoccer.com about Coyle, but did say the club is “hopeful that we’re getting closer to naming a new head coach.”
This is Coyle’s second trip to Houston. He led Bolton to a victory over the Dynamo in 2011 in the Dynamo’s Charities Cup match. He was also the manager who lured former Dynamo fan favorite Stuart Holden to England the year before.

Sources close to the negotiations confirmed to MLSsoccer.com on Thursday that Houston hope to have a decision made within the next week. With Coyle in town to continue talks, it appears that goal is within reach – although it is fair to say there are some details left to iron out.
