The Andres Escobar era in Dallas appears to have been a brief one.

FC Dallas on Tuesday annouced that they've declined the contract option on the Colombian Designated Player, who was with the team on a one-year loan from Dynamo Kiev.

Escobar, a livewire winger who was good for two goals and four assists on the season, was one of 10 players FCD passed on. Joining him on the chopping block were Peruvian national team goalkeeper Raul Fernandez, Honduran World Cup veteran Hendry Thomas, former team captain George John, long-time left back Jair Benitez, veteran d-mids Adam Moffat and Peter Luccin, defenders Nick Walker and Walter Cabrera, and young attacker Jonathan Top.

Dallas are still able to negotiate with these players, and could in theory bring any of them back for 2015.

Fernandez became expendable thanks to the arrival of goalkeeper Dan Kennedy via the Chivas USA dispersal draft. Kennedy will most likely vie with Chris Seitzwho the club re-signed on Tuesday – for the No. 1 shirt.

Dallas also exercised the contract options on a number of players, including Rookie of the Year Tesho Akindele and star winger Fabian Castillo.
