USWNT's Abby Wambach finalist for FIFA Player of the Year; Camilo, Cahill, Klinsmann don't make final three

US women's national team forward Abby Wambach

Abby Wambach has won many awards in her illustrious career, including FIFA's World Player of the Year. Soon, she could add to her trophy case.

FIFA announced on Monday that Wambach is one of three nominees for FIFA Women's World Player of the Year award. The other nominees include Marta of Brazil and Germany's Nadine Kessler.

The winner will be announced Jan. 12th in Zurich, Switzerland. Wambach previously won the award in 2012 and a second trophy would match former USWNT teammate Mia Hamm's total after she won the award in 2001 and 2002.

FIFA also announced the three nominees for the Puskas Award and two goals familiar to a North American audience were left off. Fomer Vancouver Whitecaps forward Camilo Sanvezzo's goal against the Portland Timbers from 2013 failed to make the final three, along with New York Red Bulls midfielder Tim Cahill's goal for Australia against the Netherlands in the World Cup.

After being named one of ten finalists, US national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann did not make the top three in FIFA's World Coach of the Year. Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid, Joachim Low of Germany, and Diego Simeone of Atletico Madrid were the ones who made the final cut.
