American Exports: Tim Howard extends Europa League shutout streak in Everton win

Tim Howard flies through the air in a game for Everton

AMSTERDAM – Everton star Tim Howard continued his Europa League mastery on Thursday night, blanking Wolfsburg 2-0 to help the Toffees ensure a first place finish in Group H with one game to spare.

The netminder rang up seven saves and snared three crosses to run his tournament shutout streak to 317 minutes. Howard reserved his best early stop to foil Aaron Hunt on the quarter hour and would later come up big to deny Belgium playmaker Kevin De Bruyne with a kick save 10 minutes after intermission.

Howard is heating up as the temperature drops; in his last eight outings across all competitions, Howard has a 5-0-3 record with five clean sheets. He also now leads the current edition of the Europa League with 33 saves.

Everton, meanwhile, will close group play with a visit from Kuban Krasnodar on December 11.
