Robbie Rogers' first book, "Coming Out to Play"

On Tuesday, LA Galaxy defender Robbie Rogers adds published author to his burgeoning resume, to go along with consultant for a network television show loosely based around his day-to-day life and the first openly gay professional athlete in a major North American sports league.

His memoir, "Coming Out to Play," takes readers along Rogers' journey from terrified teenager to trailblazing, out-and-proud player for the Galaxy, embracing his new identity as a role model and champion for those still struggling with the secrets that keep them from living their dreams.

Rogers also spoke to TODAY show correspondent Maria Shriver about the book, his journey thus far and what still lies ahead in a very worthwhile interview (above video).
