American Exports: Bob Bradley could stay with Stabaek after Goteborg talks fall through

Bob Bradley celebrates while coaching Stabaek

AMSTERDAM – As reported across Scandinavia on Monday, talks have broken down between Stabæk boss Bob Bradley and Swedish Allsvenskan runners up IFK Göteborg over a potential move.

Sources on both sides of the Atlantic confirmed to MLSsoccer.com that Norwegian and Swedish reports were accurate in noting part of the reason negotiations died out was Göteborg's refusal to allow Bradley to bring Blue Ones assistant coach Tomasz Kaczmarek over with him.

Bradley is fresh off his debut season with Stabæk, which concluded with the promoted club finishing safely above the relegation zone in ninth place, despite being a popular preseason media pick to end up last. The longtime United States national team head coach and former Egypt boss has one year left on his contract with the Tippeligaen side, but recently revealed he has received interest from clubs across Europe since league play ended on Nov. 9.

Meanwhile, Stabæk chairman Espen Moe has declared that he will continue to fight off any suitors in order to keep hold of the first American ever to coach a top flight European club.

"We have lived with rumors surrounding Bradley since day one," Moe told Budstikka on Monday. "We have a good dialogue with Bradley and feel confident that he will continue in the team next season."
