With Jim Curtin officially in place as the Philadelphia Union's head coach moving into 2015, the organization may not be done making moves.

Kristian Dyer reported in Metro on Thursday that once-rumored head coaching candidate Rene Meulensteen will be hired by the Union as a consultant "to assist with the sporting director structure."

Meulensteen has coached in his native Netherlands, Qatar, Denmark, Russia and England, in the youth and professional ranks, as both assistant and head coach. His last coaching job was with then-English Premier League side Fulham, a team he led from Nov. 2013 to Feb. 2014. He also had a long stint as assistant coach of Manchester United.

According to Dyer, Meulensteen would offer support to Philadelphia technical director Chris Albright in building the Union's roster.

Philadelphia made the 2014 US Open Cup final after Curtin was installed as interim coach midseason. They finished sixth in the Eastern Conference this season, just out of the playoff places, but seven points behind the final qualfier in the conference.
