American Exports: Geoff Cameron leads Stoke City to another win; Sacha Kljestan starts again for Anderlecht

Geoff Cameron in action for Stoke City

AMSTERDAM – Stoke City's Geoff Cameron came to the rescue with 81 minutes of solid injury relief at right back in a 2-1 Premier League victory at Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.

The US handyman, who was tagged with a late yellow card, pitched in with five clearances and two pass picks as the visitors snapped a five-game win drought against Spurs. The points pushed the Potters up to ninth place.

Also, Tim Howard's Everton rallied with a late spot kick and an even later line clearance to book a 1-1 share at Sunderland.

With Jozy Altidore left to watch from the home dugout, Howard logged just one stop, a fine 36th-minute kick save on Jordi Gomez. The Toffees netminder did get some last-gasp help from teammate James McCarthy, who turned away a Wes Brown header deep into stoppage time.

Tenth-place Everton are now unbeaten in four, while Sunderland used the point to nudge up to 14th place.

Over in Belgium's Jupiler League, Sacha Kljestan ably directed traffic from start to finish as Anderlecht fluffed their tabletop cushion with a 2-0 triumph at second-place Gent.

The former Chivas USA ace, who went into the book with a quarter hour remaining, has now celebrated 12 victories in 15 unbeaten career appearances against Gent. Anderlecht also stayed unbeaten in road games on the current campaign, stretching their league lead to four points.
