American Exports: Jozy Altidore, Terrence Boyd see European Monday night football action

Jozy Altidore, Sunderland

AMSTERDAM – A pair of US forwards suited up for some Monday night football across the pond, with Jozy Altidore coming on for the final 11 minutes of Sunderland's sorely needed 3-1 Premier League victory at Crystal Palace.

The US striker managed only a few non-defensive touches during his short shift but pitched in with a tackle and a clearance. Thanks to their first EPL away win of the season, the Black Cats jumped out of the danger zone to 15th place.

Turning to Germany's second flight, Terrence Boyd continued his comeback from injury with 36 solid minutes of relief in RB Leipzig's frustrating 0-0 draw with guests Kaiserslautern.

The hosts squandered a hat full of chances, including a pair of Boyd knockdowns in the game's final moments that deserved fatal finishes. Missing a chance to grab second place, the Red Bulls stayed third in the table.
