American Exports: Tim Ream starts for Bolton in 2-1 loss to Norwich City

AMSTERDAM – A handful of Americans worked under Friday night lights, with Tim Ream and struggling Bolton losing 2-1 away to third place Norwich City in English Championship action.

The left back pitched in with six clearances and passed well, but failed to make a major impact in the game. Thanks to their sixth loss in the last seven league road games, Wanderers missed a chance to at least temporarily rise out of the bottom three.

Over in Germany, Alfredo Morales departed after a foul-filled half as visiting second Bundesliga leaders Ingolstadt held second place Fortuna Düsseldorf to a 0-0 draw.

The US midfielder was warned early in the opening frame, booked midway through and closed the half getting another stern lecture from the referee. Still the only remaining unbeaten in the league, Ingolstadt stayed five points clear at the top.

Around the league, Andrew Wooten and Sandhausen battled back late for a 1-1 share at Karlsruhe.

The American started up front before shifting to right wing with 20 minutes to play. Though he managed to set up a couple of good chances for teammates to squander, Wooten saw none of his own as 13th place Sandhausen saw their winless slide reach five games.

Also, Jann George watched on as Greuther Fürth edged out a 1-0 victory at Union Berlin. By snapping a five-game win drought across all competitions, the Shamrocks tentatively climbed to sixth place.
