GUADALAJARA, Mexico – US national team defender Michael Orozco is set to appear in the Copa MX final after his Puebla side defeated city rivals Lobos BUAP 5-4 on penalties Tuesday night following a 1-1 tie over 90 minutes.

Orozco played the full game for José Luis “Chelís” Sánchez Solá’s team at right back in just his second appearance in the tournament this season.

Lobos BUAP - without Daniel Cuevas – opened the scoring when Omar Tejada was left free to head in from a corner in the 31st minute, but Luis Loroña equalized for La Franja 15 minutes from the end.

Orozco’s Puebla is set to play the winner of Wednesday’s semifinal between Santos Laguna and  Jose Torres and Herculez Gomez’s Tigres in Estadio Universitario (11 pm ET, ESPN Deportes). Gomez will likely miss the game due to a muscle problem but is in contention for Tigres’ Liga MX match against Ronaldinho’s Querétaro on Saturday.
