Toronto FC, USMNT midfielder Michael Bradley undergoes successful foot surgery

Toronto FC and United States national team midfielder Michael Bradley underwent successful surgery in New York on Tuesday to repair nerve damage in his foot, but it’s unclear when he’ll be able to train again for club or country.

A TFC team official told MLSsoccer.com that Bradley is expected to return to Toronto later this week, and at that time the team will have more information about the timeline for Bradley’s recovery.

Bradley had been dealing with the foot issue for much of the regular season, his first with the Reds since returning to MLS in January. He started 25 games in his first season with the club, scoring two goals and adding four assists.

Although Toronto’s season ended Saturday without reaching the MLS Cup playoffs, the US national team return to action with two international friendlies in Europe next month. It’s unclear, however, if Bradley will be healthy enough to participate when the Americans take on World Cup quarterfinalists Colombia in London on Nov. 14 or Ireland on Nov. 18 in Dublin.
