David Ousted could easily be credited for getting his Vancouver Whitecaps into the MLS Cup Playoffs with a stellar performance in their 1-0 win over the Colorado Rapids.
He was also awarded with the top spot in Castrol Index Weekly Top 20 for Week 33. Ousted came away with five saves in the win that gave the ‘Caps the fifth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
It was a big week for goalkeepers all around, with netminders grabbing four of the top five spots.
The Columbus Crew’s Steve Clark took the No. 2 spot thanks to his six-save performance in a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union. Sean Johnson grabbed third place with an eight-save performance in the Chicago Fire’s 2-1 win over the Houston Dynamo.
Omar Cummings came in at No. 4 thanks to his goal for the Dynamo.
New England Revolution ‘keeper Bobby Shuttleworth rounded out the top five with a four-save performance in a 1-0 win over Toronto FC.
