Clint Dempsey's agent denies reports Seattle Sounders star will return to England on loan in January

AMSTERDAM – The agent for Seattle Sounders ace Clint Dempsey has poured ice-cold water on a UK tabloid story claiming that the US attacker is in line for an off-season loan spell in the Premier League.

The Mirror reported on Sunday that Aston Villa, Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City were all ready to grab the Major League Soccer All-Star for two months starting in January. Dempsey did spend a couple of winter months on loan to former employers Fulham last season, but his rep says no such move is in line for 2015.

"The rumor that broke about Clint going on loan is completely false and inaccurate," Dempsey's agent, Lyle Yorks, told MLSsoccer.com. "There have been no discussions to that effect. Clint's immediate focus is the playoffs with Seattle."

In his first full season with the Sounders, Dempsey has 15 goals and 10 assists in 26 matches. Seattle won the Supporters' Shield for the first time in franchise history on Saturday, giving them a quick postseason breather before they face the winner of Wednesday's Knockout Round game between FC Dallas and the Vancouver Whitecaps (9 pm ET; MLS Live in US/TSN1 in Canada).
