AMSTERDAM – Tim Howard notched a Europa league shutout on Thursday night, helping Group H leaders Everton escape Lille with a 0-0 draw.
With Lille's shooters repeatedly missing the target, the Toffees star needed only three stops to record his 13th career clean sheet in European cup competition. Everton now stands a point ahead of Wolfsburg as the clubs make the halfway turn in group play.
Elsewhere, Fabian Johnson went unused as Borussia Mönchengladbach grabbed second place in Group A with a 5-0 cruise past visiting Apollon Limassol.
