Report: Juventus interest in Sporting Kansas City Homegrown defender Erik Palmer-Brown hasn't faded

Erik Palmer-Brown’s season with Sporting Kansas City may be over, but the interest he’s receiving from Italian giant Juventus apparently is not.

In a report from Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Serie A club will make a decision at the end of the MLS season on whether to pull the trigger on a one million euro deal for the 17-year-old defender and that Palmer-Brown’s foot injury that ended his season isn’t a deterrent.

The rumors of Juventus' interest in the Sporting product and US U-20 international first surfaced in January.

Sporting manager and technical director Peter Vermes commented on Juventus’ interest in Palmer-Brown in February, saying they have no intention of selling the player. When contacted by MLSsoccer.com about the latest news, a team spokesman said that position remains the same.

“[Palmer-Brown] is on our roster, and we look forward to him getting through rehab and back onto the field as quickly as possible,” the spokesman said.

Palmer-Brown, who at 16 was the youngest signing in club history, saw his first league action this year with three appearances and two starts before a stress fracture in his right foot and subsequent surgery earlier this month cut his season short.
