Portland Timbers fan stack beer cups to make beer cup snake

Portland Timbers fans accomplished something pretty spectacular on Wednesday night.

Perhaps it wasn't as meaningful to their team's playoff hopes as the Timbers players' 3-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes, but nevertheless, we're still pretty impressed with their performance on the night.

For those whose college days may be well past them, that is called a "beer cup snake." It is, essentially, exactly what it looks and sounds like.

It's a fairly impressive beer cup snake, but you realize these Timbers fanatics have quite a bit of training to do when you do a quick Google image search for "beer cup snake."

The Providence Park stadium cleaning crew must have been thrilled. "All the cups, in one place," they were rumored to have said following the final whistle. "What a happy day this is."

Two questions come to mind: 1) How many cups is that particular beer cup snake, and 2) If all beer cups at Providence Park were stacked into a single beer cup snake, would it span the length of the field? We're leaning towards "a lot," and "yes, easily."
