New England Revolution youngster Diego Fagundez named to Daily Mail's list of rising stars

Diego Fagundez celebrates scoring vs. Seattle

Diego Fagundez's numbers may be down from his 2013 breakout season with the New England Revolution, but he's still one of the most highly rated young players in MLS ... and the world.

The Revs' Homegrown star finished No. 5 in the the recently-released 24 Under 24 rankings and he's also on a list of 10 rising stars in world soccer as published by UK media outlet, Daily Mail.

The 19-year-old New England Revolution winger was paired alongside the likes of Spain's Oliver Torres and Brazilian striker Mosquito, and lauded for his "acceleration, control and incisive finishing."

The Uruguayan native has just five goals in 29 appearances thus far in 2014, a far cry from the team-leading 13 he scored last year. The dip in form has led to Fagundez being in and out of the lineup as of late, starting only four of the Revolution's last 10 matches and going unused in the last two.

Fagundez and the Revolution currently sit in second place in the Eastern Conference and are trying to clinch a postseason berth. They can do so this Saturday if they go into Canada and beat the Montreal Impact (4 pm ET; Univision Deportes).
