The US national team on Tuesday called in another attacking option for their upcoming friendlies against Ecuador and Honduras, adding San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski to head coach Jurgen Klinsmann's roster.
The USMNT will face Ecuador on Friday in East Hartford, Connecticut (7 pm ET, ESPN/WatchESPN) and Honduras on Oct. 14 at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida (8 pm ET, ESPN/WatchESPN, UniMas).
A member of the 2014 World Cup squad, Wondolowski has nine goals in 23 caps with the USMNT. He made two substitute appearances in Brazil, against Portugal at Arena Amazonia in Manaus on June 22 and against Belgium in the Round of 16 at Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador on July 1.
Since returning from the World Cup, the 2012 MLS MVP has nine goals and four assists in 15 MLS games, tallying a goal or an assist in 10 of those 15 games.
Wondolowksi was expected to meet with the US team in Boston on Tuesday evening, meaning he'll miss the Quakes' road match against the Portland Timbers on Wednesday and likely their road match at Real Salt Lake on Saturday. The Quakes were eliminated from postseason contention following a 2-1 loss to the Timbers last Saturday.
