Captain America: Landon Donovan to start, wear the armband in final USMNT appearance

Landon Donovan and Jurgen Klinsmann may not see eye-to-eye on much these days, but the USMNT legend will still get his due in Friday's friendly vs. Ecuador.

Klinsmann revealed on Tuesday that Donovan will wear the captain's armband and start in his US finale, logging 30 minutes before exiting the match at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn.

Donovan, who made his full US debut in 2000, has worn the armband numerous times throughout his US career, most recently in this past February's 2-0 win over South Korea in which he assisted on the second of Chris Wondolowski's goals. His 57 career goals and 57 career assists are both US men's national team records.

The US team trained on the campus at Harvard University on Tuesday and will train there again on Wednesday before training in East Hartford on Thursday.
