Arsenal youngster and USMNT hopeful Gedion Zelalem scores incredible goal for U-19s

Time to drool, USMNT fans. Gedion Zelalem has scored his first goal in an Arsenal jersey.


Zelalem was playing on Arsenal's U-19 team during a UEFA Youth League game against Turkish club Galatasaray when he scored this magnificent goal just before halftime.



Back in May, the Washington Post reported that the 17-year-old Zelalem was close to obtaining US citizenship, which would make him eligible for the US national team. Zelalem was born in Germany and is of Ethiopian descent but spent six years living in the Washington, D.C. area with his father.


Zelalem signed his first professional contract with Arsenal in March after joining the English Premier League club in January 2013. He has appeared for the Gunners during their last two preseason trips, includingn this August, when they played a friendly against the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena.
