It was a weekend for defenders in the Week 29 Castrol Index, and the top award went to one who also found the back of the net – twice.
Toronto FC’s Nick Hagglund, who recorded a brace in Saturday’s 3-2 comeback win against the Portland Timbers, top the Weekly Top 20.
The next three spots went to goalkeepers.
Bill Hamid came in at No. 2 with his four-save performance in D.C. United’s 1-0 victory Saturday against the Philadelphia Union. Next up is Steve Clark for his three-save performance in the Columbus Crew’s 2-0 victory Saturday vs. the Montreal Impact. David Ousted posted six saves in the Vancouver Whitecaps’ 2-1 win Saturday over Real Salt Lake to take the No. 4 spot.
The first offensive player represented this week is Robbie Keane, who rounds out the top five thanks to his brace in the LA Galaxy’s 4-0 demolition Sunday of the New York Red Bulls.
