Player of the Matchday

LA Galaxy's Landon Donovan earns fourth MLS Player of the Week selection after record-tying performance

Another masterful performance. Another MLS Player of the Week nod.

For the third time in the past five weeks, Landon Donovan was voted the best player in MLS on Monday for his one-goal, three-assist showing in the LA Galaxy's 4-0 dismantling of the New York Red Bulls on Sunday night. Donovan also claimed the award in Weeks 25 and 26, as well as in Week 12. (See how the Norh American Soccer Reporters voted here.)

Donovan helped inspire the red-hot Galaxy to another impressive win on Sunday, taking advantage of his matchup against Red Bulls rookie right back Chris Duvall and having a hand in each of LA's four goals at the StubHub Center. The 32-year-old midfielder's three assists in the match also pulled him level with Steve Ralston for the all-time assists record in MLS with four regular-season games remaining this season.
