AMSTERDAM – Several Americans laced up overseas on Sunday, with Eintracht Frankfurt right back Timothy Chandler on top of his defensive game in a 2-1 Bundesliga victory at Hamburg.

While Julian Green remained out with a rib knock, Chandler (above) rang up five tackles and three pass picks to help the seventh place visitors stayed unbeaten on the road this season. Despite scoring their first goal of the term, HSV remain tied to the bottom through six rounds.

One level below, Alfredo Morales and Ingolstadt regained the 2.Bundesliga summit thanks to a 1-0 win at Karlsruhe. The US international worked a solid contest in defensive midfield as the league's last unbeaten moved a point ahead of the pack.

Next door in Ligue 1, Alejandro Bedoya ably pitched in as ninth place Nantes held visiting Lyon to a 1-1 share.

Switched to right midfield with a formation change to 4-4-2, Bedoya went close to scoring three times, including a rocket off the post on 42 minutes. The Canaries clawed back to level matters before the American departed on 78 minutes.

Turning to the Eredivisie, Rubio Rubin went the distance on left wing as FC Utrecht fell 3-1 at FC Twente. The result dropped them back to break-even and to ninth place.

Over in Norway's Tippeligaen, Michael Stephens set up the early winner as Stabæk topped derby guests Lillestrøm 2-0.

In just the third minute, Stephens expertly picked out Fredrik Brustad for the opener to tally his fifth assist of the season. The former LA Galaxy man was removed in the 90th minute, while countryman Andrew Jacobson worked a full shift as the Blue Ones moved nine points clear of the danger line.

Also, Mikkel Diskerud was named Man of the Match by leading paper VG after Rosenborg's 3-0 cruise past visiting Aalesund FK. The win put RBK back into the last Europa League slot with five games remaining.
