American Exports: Paul Arriola shines in Club Tijuana's Copa MX win over Chivas Guadalajara

Club Tijuana's Paul Arriola

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Paul Arriola pushed his case for more minutes in league play on Wednesday in Club Tijuana’s 1-0 Copa MX win over Chivas Guadalajara.

Arriola caused problems down the right wing, bursting past veteran defender Carlos Salcido and cutting back for Henry Martín to almost score in the 15th minute. Five minutes later, Arriola made a similar run that led to another scoring chance, and the US U-20 international went close in the 68th minute when he cut in from the right and put a left-footed shot just over the bar.

Alejandro Guido had a solid performance in central midfield and, like Arriola, went the full 90 minutes, while Amando Moreno was bright after coming off the bench in the 72nd minute. Xolos were already out of Copa MX contention before the match, with Chivas advancing from Group 3.
