MLS Fantasy Advice: Landon Donovan's scoring streak comes to an end

Transfer Deadline: Wednesday, 9pm ET

MLS Fantasy owners expecting more glory from Landon Donovan on Saturday at home against Dallas were slightly let down. His stellar streak of scoring or assisting in consecutive matches came to a halt after six games.

Between Aug. 20 - Sept. 10, Donovan scored five goals and assisted on eight more, accumulating 82 total fantasy points along the way.

Consider this: Really, really good players like Darlington Nagbe, Kelyn Rowe have barely tallied that many points this entire season.

Donovan still racked up five points in the game against Dallas, and had five successful crosses, three key passes and 13 recoveries. He still sits atop the MLS leaderboard in key passes (90) and assists (15), and he still leads all players with 201 total points - two ahead of Portland Timbers' midfielder Diego Valeri.

So is now really the time to dump Donovan, and maybe go with some of the Seattle Sounders players facing a double week? There were plenty of fantasy players who dropped Donovan and thousands of people are frantically snatching up Clint Dempsey and other Sounders players, but don't forget: The most-captained player the last six rounds has been Donovan or Robbie Keane.

Should all that change now just because the Sounders play two games? It's something fantasy managers should give a long look at over the next 24 hours.
