GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Alejandro Guido started and went 90 minutes as Club Tijuana crashed out of the Copa MX with a 2-0 loss to Chivas in Estadio Omnilife on Tuesday.

Guido featured in his usual central midfield role, passing the ball with confidence against a Chivas lineup featuring many first-team starters. New Xolos coach Daniel Guzmán played with mainly youngsters in his second match in charge in a bid to get to know the strength of depth at the club, with former New York Red Bulls Homegrown Player Amando Moreno coming off the bench in the 53rd minute and John Requejo entering in the 72nd.

The border team needed a victory to have a chance of qualification for the knockout rounds from Group 3, and Guzman explained after the game that usual first-team players like Joe Corona and Greg Garza had been rested after a tough Liga MX match last Saturday against Pachuca.

Elsewhere in the Copa MX on Tuesday, Stevie Rodriguez completed 78 minutes of Dorados de Sinaloa’s 2-1 victory over Mineros de Zacatecas, although it was already impossible for Xolos’ sister team to get out of Group 4.

On Wednesday, Herculez Gomez and Jose Torres’ Tigres are in action away at Ronaldinho’s Querétaro, with the Brazilian set to debut for Gallos Blancos (10 pm ET).
