Will Real Salt Lake's Chris Schuler be the next MLS defender to break out on the USMNT?

Who will be the next MLS defender to break out on the USMNT?

During the last World Cup cycle it was MLS defenders Matt Besler and Omar Gonzalez getting their big break on the international level.

Who's up next?

If you were watching Friday night's Seattle Sounders vs. Real Salt Lake broadcast on NBCSN, you heard the case being made for RSL defender Chris Schuler, who has started all but five matches for his club in 2014.

"It's been an injury-filled couple of years. He never really got past 16 games played in a season. Right now, tonight is his 23rd game," said analyst Brian Dunseth. "He's stayed fit and focused and in my opinion he is a guy who should be called up to the US men's national team in January."

"He's got a shot at it, one would think," echoed veteran play-by-play man JP Dellacamera.

Will Schuler be the next Besler? Or will it be one of the other up-and-comers getting a shot with Jurgen Klinsmann's national team? Vote in the poll and give your thoughts in the comment section below.
