GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Midfielder Jose Torres helped Tigres come back from 2-0 down to tie UNAM Pumas 2-2 on Sunday in Liga MX.

The American came on in the 56th minute and played in a holding midfield role, passing the ball around well and sending in the corner that led to Tigres’ equalizing penalty.

Herculez Gomez was an unused substitute for Tigres, who move into 9th in the league table, one spot behind the playoff pack.

On Saturday night, slack marking by US midfielder Joe Corona on the back post let in Hirving Lozano for Pachuca’s opener against Club Tijuana in the 12th minute.

Corona then made up for it six minutes later when he controlled and shot from edge of the area, with Alfredo Moreno steering the ball into the net from close range to level the score for Xolos.

US teammate Greg Garza had a tough night at left back up against Lozano, Pachuca's young winger, but he dealt with the threat well and put in a solid performance. Like Corona, Garza went the full 90.

In the Ascenso MX on Saturday, Sonny Guadarrama netted from the penalty spot as Atlante came from behind to draw 2-2 away against Celaya.
