Chivas USA agree in principle to sell midfielder Eric Avila to Santos Laguna

Chivas USA have agreed in principle to sell midfielder Eric Avila to Liga MX side Santos Laguna, a team representative told MLSsoccer.com on Friday.


Goal.com first reported the news Avila's move on Friday. The Chivas USA spokesperson told MLSsoccer.com that the deal has not yet been finalized.


Avila, 26, has spent the past two seasons at Chivas USA after he was acquired in a deal with Toronto FC, appearing in 53 games for the Goats. Originally from San Diego, Avila has amassed three goals and three assists in his time with the club.


Avila started his career with FC Dallas in 2008 and spent more than three seasons in Texas before he was dealt to Toronto FC. He’s scored eight goals and added 14 assists in 149 career regular season games in MLS.
