American Exports: Mix Diskerud, Rosenborg grab home win over Bodo/Glimt

Mix Diskerud, Rosenborg

AMSTERDAM – Mikkel Diskerud went the distance in midfield Friday as Rosenborg kept their slim title hopes alive in Norway with a 3-1 home victory over Bodø/Glimt.

The US international twice went close to contributing to a first-half opener. Diskerud set up Mike Jansen for an early shot that was turned around the frame and then fired an 18-yard attempt of his own off the post seven minutes before the break.

Diskerud also drew a good save from distance late in the contest, and RBK hit three times in the last 24 minutes to win for the third straight time. The Troll Kids, who tentatively moved clear in the last Europa League slot, cut their deficit on the top to 11 points.

Turning focus to the German second flight, Alfredo Morales and Ingolstadt moved into the league penthouse with a 4-1 demolition of visiting Aalen.

The defensive midfielder was denied on a good chance to score shortly before being removed as stoppage time began. Morales also saw yellow as the unbeaten hosts pulled into the top spot on goal differential.
