Colorado Rapids' Joe Nasco earns the fastest red card in MLS history with first minute ejection vs. LA Galaxy

Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Joe Nasco made history on Friday – just not the kind any soccer player wants to make.

Nasco earned the fastest red card in MLS history when he was sent off 34 seconds into the Rapids' visit to the LA Galaxy for denial of a goalscoring opportunity when he tripped up Alan Gordon as the Galaxy forward was attempting to poke the ball home during the LA's opening attack.

The previous record was held by former New York Red Bulls defender Carlos Johnson, who was ejected in the second minute of a game between the Red Bulls and then-Kansas City Wizards on April 23, 2009.

After a few minutes of delay, Clint Irwin took over goalkeeping duties, replacing Dillon Serna, and Landon Donovan converted the penalty kick resulting from the call for his 142nd career MLS goal, which gave the Galaxy an early 1-0 lead.
