VIDEO: USMNT's Tim Howard lends a goalkeeping hand, brain to improve position in FIFA 15 | SIDELINE

Tim Howard consulting EA Sports to improve goalkeepers in FIFA 15

If you've ever played the popular FIFA video game series, then you know that the one player on your team — or the other — that can really frustrate you is the goalkeeper.

Whether they're making saves they have no business getting a hand to, or muffing an easy catch and chucking it into their own net, the goalkeeper is the one position that EA Sports had yet to perfect.

We say, "had yet to perfect," because after many hours of rewriting the goalkeeper's artificial intelligence for FIFA 15, it's more realistic than ever before. And they did it with a little help from US national team and 2014 World Cup star Tim Howard (above video).

Rather than make the same generic save time and time again, goalkeepers will now be programmed to make realistic, fluid, reaction saves based on that particular keeper's mentality, technique and physical ratings.

The revolutionized 'keeper animations are just one of the new features to debut in FIFA 15, as EA Sports unveiled a handful of others last month.
