Save of the Week

Colorado Rapids' Clint Irwin wins extremely tight Save of the Week race with denial of Omar Gonzalez

In what may very well have been the closest Save of the Week vote ever, Clint Irwin came out on top by the slimmest of margins.

Irwin won the Week 24 Save of the Week award by edging out Jon Busch by .3 percent of the vote. It was essentially a four-horse race for much of the week, with Irwin, Busch, Luis Robles and Bill Hamid all finishing within about two percentage points of one another, but the Colorado Rapids netminder came out victorious in the end with his reflex save on Omar Gonzalez.

The stop came in the Colorado Rapids' 4-3 home loss to the LA Galaxy. LA were looking to pull level when Landon Donovan found Gonzalez with a corner kick, but the powerful header was denied superbly by the alert Irwin.
