Romanian defender does his best Mike Magee impression, saves two penalties in shootout | THE SIDELINE

Mike Magee plays goalkeeper for the LA Galaxy

Mike Magee, eat your heart out.

You may remember the now-Chicago Fire star putting on an exemplary display as an emergency goalkeeper while with the LA Galaxy in 2011. But as far as field players in goal go, Magee may have been one-upped by Cosmin Moti, a Romanian center back playing for Bulgarian side Ludogorets Razgrad.

After the Ludogorets goalkeeper was sent off in the 118th minute of extratime in their UEFA Champions League qualifier against Steaua Bucharest, with all three substitutes already used and the aggregate score knotted, Moti was selected to don the No. 1 jersey for the remaining few minutes of the game and the looming penalty shootout.

What happened next was history:

You saw that right: Moti made two saves, including the decisive one, in the 6-5 shootout win, one that will be worth millions to the Bulgarians now that they've made it to the group stages.

Though Magee certainly had to deal with more during his famous stint between the sticks, the shootout drama and high stakes on Tuesday night may top what we saw at Buck Shaw Stadium a few years ago. Whose emergency goalkeeping was better? Make your voice heard in the comments below!
