GUADALAJARA, Mexico – As Edgar Castillo’s former team Tijuana continues to struggle in Liga MX, his new one is going from strength to strength this Apertura 2014.

Atlas defeated Pumas 1-0 Sunday in Ciudad Universitaria to remain undefeated and keep pressure on leaders Club América, who remain two points ahead of the Rojinegros after four rounds of matches in the season.

Castillo completed the 90 minutes for the fourth consecutive Liga MX game in a bright performance at left back for Tomas Boy’s side. In the 54th minute, Castillo read and intercepted a dangerous pass into the penalty area and one minute later Arturo Gonzalez netted Atlas’ only goal.

The US international – who missed out on the World Cup - was generally tidy in his all-round passing and play and tamed his usual attacking forays in the opposition’s half in the heat and altitude of Mexico City in the midday kick-off.
