New York Red Bulls sign French defender Damien Perrinelle after successful trial

New York Red Bulls have signed French defender Damien Perrinelle

The New York Red Bulls are making moves in the summer transfer window, and the latest is the signing of French defender Damien Perrinelle

Perrinelle, 30, had been on trial with the Red Bulls before Monday's announcement. He most recently played for FC Istres of Ligue 2 in France. The defender began his professional career in 2001 with Amiens SC, a member of the Championnat National, France's third flight.

“We’re very pleased to add Damien to our roster following a successful trial period with the club,” Red Bulls sporting director Andy Roxburgh said in a statement. “He’s a versatile defender with good technical quality and he’ll add depth to our squad.”

Following his stint with Amiens SC, Perrinelle made the jump to Ligue 2 in France in 2004. The defender played for US Creteil in 2004, Clermont Foot in 2005, US Boulogne from 2006-10 and then a second stint with Clermont Foot from 2010-13.

Perrinelle will join the club pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.

Earlier Monday, the Red Bulls announced that Homegrown defender/midfielder Connor Ladehas been loaned to the NASL's New York Cosmos. Last week, RBNY also sent midfielder Ian Christianson on loan to Orlando City of the USL PRO.
