AMSTERDAM – Free agent playmaker Freddy Adu is in contract talks with Serbian bronze medalists FK Jagodina and an unnamed Cypriot club.

Following a tweet from Serbian SuperLiga newshound SerbianFooty, a source close to the situation confirmed that the 25-year-old was being courted by the two eastern European suitors. Furthermore, MLSsoccer.com has learned that the admirer from Cyprus is one of the top five First Division finishers from last season and currently alive in Europe.

Cypriot clubs AEL and APOEL qualified for the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League and will begin play in that competition later this year. Apollon, Ermis and Omonia are the island nation's Europa League delegation.

Located in central Serbia, FK Jagodina are attempting to make it through the second round of Europa League qualifying. They will take a 0-0 aggregate scoreline home for the deciding leg with Romanian outfit Cluj on Thursday.

Adu has not played a competitive match in more than a year, with his last appearance coming for Brazilian club Bahia last July. He recently had unsuccessful auditions with AZ Alkmaar and Bob Bradley's Stabæk.
