By now, we've all seen the touching videos in which members of the armed forces surprise their family by returning home, completely unannounced, in very public forums.
It's impossible to not get misty-eyed when you see the looks on the faces of family members when they see their returning hero for the first time. It doesn't matter how many of them you've watched; it still gets you every time.
On Saturday, I was lucky enough to see one of these moments happen live and in person for the very first time.
Sporting Kansas City honored and welcomed home Sergeant Matthew Burns (above video) from deployment in Afghanistan, completely unbeknownst to his family, who were being recognized on the field before the match.
Well done, Sporting KC, and thank you, Sergeant Burns.
