AMSTERDAM – A pair of Americans saw their teams get off to rough starts in Europa League second round qualifying on Thursday night, with Mix Diskerud helping Rosenborg pull one back late in a 2-1 home leg loss to Irish side Sligo Rovers.

The US midfielder entered in the 71st minute and played a part in the home side slicing a two-goal deficit in half. On a corner kick nine minutes from time, Sligo Rovers netminder Gary Rogers punched the RBK serve off of Diskerud. The teams will reunite in Ireland next Thursday, July 24, to decide the tie.

Meanwhile, Bryan Gerzicich went the distance as 10-man Hapoel Tel Aviv fell 3-0 at Kazakh runners-up FC Astana.
