It was a week of stars shining for their teams in MLS, and Toronto FC's Jermain Defoe shined brightest, according to the Castrol Index weekly ranking.
The English DP scored two goals, including the game-winner, in TFC's comeback win over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday. Defoe also finished the week ranked No. 1 in the Castrol Index for the week as a result.
Two more players with experience playing in England, Defoe's compatriot Bradley Wright-Phillips (No. 4) of the New York Red Bulls and Seattle Sounders' Clint Dempsey (No. 3), also made the Top 5 for the week.
Rounding out the group at the top are Sean Johnson (No. 2), whose penalty save preserved a 1-0 win for the Chicago Fire over the New England Revolution, and the Sounders' Marco Pappa (No. 5), who helped Dempsey and Seattle beat the Portland Timbers in MLS action on Sunday.
