After earning yellow cards in each of his first three MLS games and a one-game suspension for serious foul play, rugged New York Red Bulls defender Armando had been adjusting his game, picking up just one yellow card in his next 11 appearances.
Now, he will miss additional time after the MLS Disciplinary Commitee suspended Armando for two games and fined him an undisclosed amount for serious foul play which endangered the safety of an opponent in the fourth minute of stoppage time of the Red Bulls' July 4 match against the Houston Dynamo (watch the play here). No foul was called on the play. Through the MLS Players Union, Armando submitted an appeal, but the suspension was upeheld by an independent review panel.
The MLS Disciplinary Committee also suspended Colorado Rapids playmaker Vicente Sánchez for two games and fined him an undisclosed amount for serious foul play which endangered the safety of an opponent in the 78th minute of the Rapids' July 4 match against the Columbus Crew (watch the play here).
