Seattle Sounders and US national team forward Clint Dempsey was the featured guest Wednesday night on the Late Show with David Letterman and reminded us once again just how cool a kid from Nacogdoches, Texas, can be.
Answering "yes, sir" and "no, sir," to Letterman's every question, the USMNT captain oozed class and respect — characteristics not always displayed by many, even those significantly below his current celebrity status. He was someone of whom soccer fans could be proud on America's most popular late-night talk show.
Dempsey fielded the typical "why is this, why is that" soccer questions from Letterman and probably taught the 67-year-old more soccer during the 12 minutes in which he was on stage than he's known his entire life.
Dempsey also used the Late Show setup to give a shoutout to a special someone in his life: his baby mama.
What baby mama (Dempsey's wife, for the record) doesn't want a birthday shoutout on Letterman?
