World Cup: Angel Di Maria ruled out for remainder of tournament with thigh injury

Angel Di Maria injured vs. Belgium

Argentina won the battle vs. Belgium on Saturday, picking up a 1-0 win in their quarterfinal match-up. But in the process they may have suffered a blow that will make it much harder to win the war.

Star winger Angel Di Maria has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament with a thigh injury according to multiple reports online. Di Maria, who had the game-winner against Switzerland in the Round of 16 and was instrumental in the Gonzalo Higuain goal that sunk the Belgians, came off just over a half-hour into the game after injuring himself on a shot - which was blocked by Vincent Kompany - from the top of the box.

The injury has been described as "not medically serious" by Spanish outlet AS, but still enough to keep the attacker out of the mix for Wednesday's semifinal.
