Chicago Fire send Designated Player Juan Luis Anangono on six-month loan to LDU Quito

Chicago's Juan Luis Anangono celebrates a goal

The Chicago Fire hoped the addition last season of Designated Player Juan Luis Anangono would bolster their attack. But 28 appearances and four goals later, he is headed home, at least for the next six months.

The Fire announced on Thursday that they have loaned Anangono to LDU Quito on a six-month loan. Per club and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Both the club and Juan were looking for an option for him to gain consistent playing time,” said Fire head coach and Director of Soccer Frank Yallop in a statement. “The loan has been in the works for a while now and both parties agreed that it is best that Juan return to Ecuador for the next six months and continue to play full matches. We’re looking forward to keeping tabs and monitoring his progress.”

Anangono joined the Fire on July 23, 2013 from Argentinos Juniors of the Argentine Primera Division. Prior to joining Argentinos, the 25-year-old had spent his career in his native Ecuador, for Barcelona and El Nacional. He last featured for the Fire on Wednesday, coming off the bench in Chicago's 1-1 draw against Toronto FC.
