World Cup: Four MLS players combine for US national team's second goal vs. Portugal in Manaus

Clint Dempsey celebrates (June 22, 2014)

It was the goal that had the entire country dreaming of a second-round berth in the World Cup.

In the 82nd minute, captain Clint Dempsey barreled home a cross to put the USA up 2-1 with just minutes to go. And it was an all-MLS goal.

Seattle Sounders academy product DeAndre Yedlin raced onto a through ball to the end line and cut back a cross into the box. The ball made its way to Toronto FC's Michael Bradley, whose attempt then deflected out left to Sporting Kansas City's Graham Zusi. The MLS Cup champion then sized up a perfect ball for Seattle DP Dempsey, who used his abdomen to push it over the goal line.

It looked to hold up as the game-winner, until Cristiano Ronaldo swung in the perfect cross to Silvestre Varela for the gut-wrenching 95th-minute equalizer (WATCH IT HERE).
